FINAL IDEA & RECIPE-

My final idea for my own cookie is called a chocolate chip chip cookie. This cookie is not any ordinary chocolate chip cookie, because this was must be cooked with a frying pan and has a potato chip hidden in the middle.

Recipe: To make around two dozen chocolate chip chip cookies you will need…

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 & 1/2 sticks of melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • 1 bag of baked original potato chips

Directions: Start by mixing in flour, baking soda, and sugar. Then add butter and mix until consistent, next add the eggs one at a time. Then add milk and chocolate chips and continue to mix. If the batter is too soft add a little more flour and if it is too dry and more milk to get the correct firmess as shown in the picture. Then create the raw cookie by placing a layer (3/4 cm) of dough and then place one potato chip and then another layer of dough on that. Heat the stove top to a medium temperature and then place the cookie on the frying pan. Be sure to be flipping the cookie plenty to make sure it doesn’t burn. Take the cookie off the pan and put it on a drying rack, once it is brown enough on both sides. It will still be a little gooey but then will dry hard.

IDEA GENERATION-

After coming up with a bunch of different cookie ideas, like an inside out cookie, potato chip cookie, pan fried cookie, banana chip cookie, apple sauce pie, sweetarts cookie, dried smoothie cookie, lamp baked cookie, iphone case cookie, and a healthy cookie. I finally settled on attempting to make a pan fried cookie and a chocolate chip cookie with a potato chip baked inside.

IDEA TEST ONE-

The first idea I wanted to test was a pan fried chocolate chip cookie. It turned out to be way easier to cook than I expected but it also had some flaws. After tasting this cookie it gave off a weird moist texture that also crumbled but at the same time also felt really dry in my mouth. The chocolate also melted everywhere and lacked some flavor.

IDEA TEST TWO-

Another idea I came up was putting a potato chip in the middle of a baked cookie to add some crunch and saltiness. After baking these cookies I found that the potato chip sort of melted inside the cookie and didn’t give off the crunch or saltiness I wanted.

ITERATION-

I enjoyed both cookies from each test I did but knew each had their own flaws. I figured if I combined both my ideas, it might work out so they help each other. I thought that if I pan fried the potato chip cookie, the potato chip would not melt into the cookie (since the pan fried cookie I made was dryer and didn’t cook in the center as much). After creating the combination of the two I found that my prediction was correct and that the potato chip ended up standing out more and gave more of a crunch and suprise.

MY TIMELINE:

The first task will be creating my blog outline and timeline on 9/6. Next I will start coming up with cookie ideas and buying ingredients from 9/7–9/9. Also on 9/9 I will do my first round of cookies. Then on 9/11 I will make my second round of cookies and iteration of both. On 9/13 I will upload my final blog post. I will finally present a dozen cookies to my class on 9/14. Lastly I will have a peer review my blog.
